Never Let Your Opponents See Your Hand

Ever since we were little kids playing games of go Fish we have been taught to keep our hands to ourselves to be sure that none of our opponents could get one up on us. When it comes to playing poker this is even more important as usually you are playing for high stakes. If you’re going to hold on to the same hand for a very long time, hoping to be able to use it to win a play, you’ll want to be very cautious but no one else playing at your table is able to glimpse at your hand to see what you are working with.

Novice poker players often make the mistake of letting their guard down and not realizing what may be going on around them. In addition, it is important to remember when playing cards in a casino that one or more of the players could have partners in crime. This means they may have someone walking around behind you trying to see what sort of cards you hold. This makes it very important to pay extra special attention, not only to what is happening at your table but also to what is happening around your table and who may be lingering near. No one likes to believe that a harmless game of poker with action be motivation for shady characters to try and get one over on them. But when gambling for any amount of money it is always important to be very cautious.
