Everyone loves a good game of poker with the guys. However, some people take for granted that the people they are playing with are their friends. They begin to get dangerously and risk more and more money as the evening goes on, all the while thinking that these people of their friends, surely they can get their money back. Unfortunately, this is not the way playing poker with friends works. Usually, people who set up poker nights are very much into the game and its authenticity. It is also important to stay away from alcohol or at least keep your consumption minimal as alcohol will make you invincible and cause you to make decisions you may have otherwise reconsidered.
There is no reason to treat a night of poker with your friends any differently than you would treat a night out at casino playing poker with strangers. In both cases you are betting real money that you have worked hard to learn and in both cases you stand a chance to lose that money. Poker night with friends may be fun but it should also be taken quite seriously, especially if the bets offer high stakes. In addition, it is always a bad idea in risky business to run out of money at the poker table and get into the habit of borrowing money from one of your friends. Many friendships have been ruined by things just like this. Instead, come to the poker table with only enough money that you can afford to lose. Once that money is gone, pull out of the game and walk away.
